Bulb
Forcing for Beginners and the Seriously Smitten:
Based on Art's book by the same name, this program will help both novices and
"seriously-smitten" bulb forcers learn what it takes to
successfully force a wide variety of bulbs indoors during the
winter. Art has more than thirty years of experience in growing
and exhibiting bulbs for the Philadelphia International Flower
Show, where he twice won the Grand Sweepstakes Award as the top
individual competitor. Art combines his laugh-out-loud sense of
humor with clear, concise information that will keep your
audience's attention and give them the knowledge and confidence
to succeed. If desired, this program can be given as a
bulb-forcing workshop after which students return home with a
pot of bulbs they'll be able to force into bloom in the winter.
Garden Lunacy: A Growing Concern: This hysterical lecture, based on Art's book by the same name, is a
riotous, irreverent romp through the world of horticulture. It
includes plant thieves; mid-city, outdoor marijuana growers;
flower-show addicts; a visit to Hortiholics Anonymous; the separate universes of gardeners and non-gardeners; Better
Homes and Gardens photoshoots; and much
more. If you're looking for a program to produce side-splitting
laughter, this is it!
Glorious Gardens
For Pennies: Tired
of getting discouraged when you come home from a great public
garden and look at you backyard? This lecture is the perfect
cure. Art Wolk will review how the home gardener can
inexpensively produce a high-impact flower garden and high-yield
vegetable garden. This empowering lecture will also include the
basics of flower garden design.
Gardening With Children:
Art will show you how to entice youngsters into becoming
gardeners. He oversaw a children’s garden for eight years and
shows you how to create botanical playgrounds for kids. Every
year Art created “please touch” gardens that had new discoveries
for children, including cotton, tents of hyacinth beans plants,
a cornucopia of herb scents, luffa squash, a “maze of maize,”
and much more.
Glorious Gardens
of the Southeast: (This
program is suitable for any organization, not just garden clubs.)
Art uses photography and humorous stories to take you on a visit
to the gardens and people of the Southeastern U.S. A wonderful
journey to the best public and private gardens, including a very
special visit to Charleston at its peak of spring perfection.
